Abstract

Purpose : This study was done to identify the impact of perception, attitudes and anxiety toward dementia among nursing students on the attitude of elderly with dementia.

Methods : Participants were 134 nursing students, Data were collected through structured questionnaires from October 15 to November 09, 2018. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program.

Results : Perception and attitudes toward dementia affected attitude of elderly with dementia. Perception and attitudes toward dementia explained 43.6%(F£½10.19, p£¼.001) of the variance in attitude of elderly with dementia.

Conclusion : Findings from this study indicate the need to evaluate and improve the awareness education program for nursing students to developed to foster a positive attitude the elderly with dementia.
